Well, my sister in law should be proud of me tonight. I am actually listening to the leaders debate on TV for the Quebec election. OK - I admit that I had to get my laptop and start blogging during the debate because I started feeling a bit bored. I am not enamored of politics. First, they are all repeating themselves, and talking simultaneously without listening to each other. Sounds like my admin meetings at work! Mme Marois is belligerent and vague about what she proposes, but blames all the ills of the world on the present Liberal government. I must admit that I am biased because I really really do not like her. M. Dumont is holding his own - too bad I do not agree with his policies, he is a good debater. Mr. Charest is a good debater too, and I will definitely vote for him, but he is no Obama. He likes to blame all that is wrong with the health system on the decisions of the Parti Quebecois while they were in power 6 years ago. I remember well those decisions to retire all doctors and nurses over a certain age. I lost my doctor to forced retirement! However, that was then and this is now - let's start living in the present and work towards finding solutions. There is no magic cure for our economic woes. None of these 3 leaders can pull us out of this recession without pain..but we must vote for the party and the leader that we think will best be able to govern us.
OK - 1 h and 33 minutes into it and both Keith & I can't take it anymore. Switch to a previously taped episode of Fringe - now that is true escapism, something every one who watched that debate will sorely need.
Good for you for trying at least.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about the Leader Debates is that they are the one true time that any person can see all of the politicians interacting with each other on a public stage. Someone can always say 'I don't know who is running', but technology/TV gives everyone the opportunity to become more informed.
If I were still living in La Belle Province, you can bet I would vote for Monsieur Charest.
