Someone call the Fashion Police! Quick!

I watched the Grammys last night - I always enjoy the Grammys - the show bring me up to date on all the trends that I have been missing (some of them thankfully) in the music business. It's too bad that the live acts are often disappointing compared to the recorded song we hear on the radio day in and day out - case in point the awful rendition of "I kissed a girl and I liked it" by Katy Perry wearing a ghastly dress made out of plastic fruit. Shudder !!

But the very worse offense has got to be the outfit worn by this singer M.I.A - see picture - (whoever she is). Good grief! This woman is performing in front of a gazillion people wearing that! The "dress" is transparent except for 2 round patches covering the breasts, and a round patch in the front and another in the back covering up her rear. M.I.A. was due to give birth yesterday and she looked it! The ginormous white running shoes did not enhance the look either. As I watched her prance around on stage - full preggers belly looking much bigger than this picture shows - I never heard her sing because I was so flabbergasted by the horrible outfit. Whatever happened to elegance and style? Not in this ladie's dictionnary (or wardrobe) I am sure. Sure, show off your big belly, but there must be thousands of beautiful designer outfits that will do a better job than that!

Another big faux pas (at least as far as I am concerned) was gum chewing thank you speech by Adèle for the best song award. Gee! You'd think she could have stuck the gum under her chair before going on stage to receive her Grammy. What the heck was she thinking? She looked like a big cow up there, chew, chew.... I like her song (Chasing Pavements) but now I will always think of her chewing gum on stage.

Did I like anything? Of course I did! My favorite act was the Bo Diddley piece with John Mayer.

  1. too bad M.I.A. couldn't have done the song in its entirety...it's a cool tune...

  2. Well, then I will make the effort to find the song and listen to it in it's entirety - I feel so old fashioned when it comes to rap

  3. I think the outfit achieved the purpose: to get herself talked about. If only by whoever compiles the Worst Dressed List.
