So, let's all pay a little more attention to the affairs of the heart, not just the emotional heart, but the physical heart. Now, everyone grab an apple and take a walk!

An infamous anniversary
As I have been hearing on the radio, and reading about all month, February is Heart Month. (http://www.mcgill.ca/newsroom/news/item/?item_id=104291) Today, as I was listening to a radio personality talk about some charity event for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, I remembered this infamous day back in 2005 - yes already 4 years ago! It was on this day that Keith suffered from a heart attack - and landed in the intensive care unit of the LaSalle Hospital.
What a shock to everyone! Keith, young (hey - it's all relative, depending on how old you are when you read this), average weight, no sign of cholesterol or high blood pressure. It shouldn't happen to someone so healthy! But it did, and although Keith is absolutely fine today, it certainly put many things in perspective. Some things we just do not take for granted anymore (like each other...)
So, let's all pay a little more attention to the affairs of the heart, not just the emotional heart, but the physical heart. Now, everyone grab an apple and take a walk!

ReplyDeleteI had a heart attack even younger than he did! All the more reason...
