California at last!

Ahh! California!!!

I so need this! The last week was pretty rough - my cold came back with a vengeance - did I say I was virus free at last?? Well, I certainly spoke too soon! By Wednesday, my cough was so bad that I was worried I wouldn't make it to CHA! I went back to the local CLSC (medical clinic) for another 2 hour wait in the hope of getting a miracle drug so that I could put this cold to sleep for once and for all. Alas, this was not the case. After taking X-rays, giving me a test for Asthma (my lungs are making a weezing sound due to inflamation) - the doctor diagnosed me with, of all things - whooping cough! Prognosis - I will be coughing and feeling lousy for another 2 months since the cold, damp winter weather exacerbates it. There is a small ray of sunshine - the few days in California where the air is warm and dry should give me some respite, but the doctor warned me that as soon as I step out of the plane back in Montreal - the cough will come back - kind of makes me wish I could spend the winter down here!


So - we (Claire, Mich, Tereza and I)left this morning at 9:00AM and flew 6 hours to this sunny destination. I was so full of cough syrup and cold medicine that I managed to keep my barking under control (somewhat). By now, we have had a nice dinner at a local restaurant (Mexica fahitas - yum!) and although it is 7:30 PM California time at the moment - I am the only one still up in the hotel room. Claire & Mich are asleep in the other bed, and poor Tereza is stuck with me in this bed. Luckily for her - she sleeps soundly. She is the only employee who will be in a position to say she "slept" with the boss :o) ---I took a real good swig of Buckley's cough syrup a few minutes ago (bleckkkk) and that should help keep me quiet long enough for everyone to fall asleep. I am really exhausted myself - so I will cut this blog short and join the others in lala land. We'll probably all be up and at it at the crack of dawn!
