Happy Saint-Patrick's Day!

I love St-Patrick's Day! Not that we do anything special - there are no family reunions, no gifts - it's just a ordinary day. But it's a landmark day for me - I will always remember my first St-Patty's day parade in Montreal back in 1976. I went with my new colleages from the physiotherapy clinic where I was working and we had such a great time. The weather was so fine! Much warmer than today, but just as sunny.

And - I do have some Irish background in me - my great-grandfather (on my mom's side) was Irish. His name was Patrick O'Bready, and he had flaming red hair and a big red beard - so my grandmother told me. He came to Canada and married my great-grandmother right off the ship. He didn't know a word of French, she didn't know a word of English. Obviously, that didn't stop them from founding a family. Times were hard back then, and survival was only for the fittest.

So here's to all the descendants of Mr. Patrick O'Bready - may they all be wearing a wee bit o' green today!
