11/22/63 - That's the title of the book. It's Steven King's latest and it is not a horror book at all. I downloaded this book to my iPad during the holidays because I had an iTunes gift card and I thought my iBook shelf was too bare. I certainly didn't have any spare time to read much in January or February, but when I landed in the waiting room of the hospital last Thursday with 3 hours of waiting - boy, was I ever happy to have put my iPad in my purse before leaving. I started reading my eBook and was hooked. I didn't see the afternoon go by and was almost sorry to have to put it down when they finally called my name. Well almost - but still happy to get out of there. On Saturday evening, with Keith gone and on my own again, I curled up on the sofa with Bella and finished the book. It's a good thriller - the hero finds a blip in the timeline and travels back to 1958 - where he attempts to change the past by righting some terrible wrongs - the main one being the assassination of JF Kennedy. Time is resistant to change, and it isn't easy for him. I loved the story and I loved the feeling of being transported back to the time when I was just a little girl. As for my iBook, I'll have to make sure that there is always an unread book in the bookshelf - you never know when you have time to kill. I really enjoy reading an electronic book - I didn't think I would, but the iPad is lighter than a big book, it is back lit - so who cares about bad lighting, and you can increase the fonts to make it confortable to read.
I am always looking for a good title but usually rely on a recomendation from someone else before buying one. We haven't used the iPad for reading books very much yet, but will give it a try. The iPhone definitely sucks for ibooks!
ReplyDeletethanks and take care of that finger.

I, too, am always on the lookout for good titles. I barely use my eReader, but I have a few books on it just in case I'm stuck somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI am just finishing "Bodyguard of Lies" about WWII. It is a huge book and definitely not easy to hold while reading (would have been good on an ereader). In it, I discovered that your autographed Ken Follett book (still here and safe until it gets returned to you)was based on real people and events. I don't recall if the author mentioned that in his preface or not, but it was definitely interesting to learn!
