A New Year Begins...

New Years morning, 8:30 AM, here I am, sitting on the living room couch, a little tiny black Yorshire Terrier curled up tight against me, typing on my computer. What? A black dog? Yes, I know, not my dog, but my friend's dog, Tinkerbell, a real sweety!  My guests are fast asleep upstairs and the house is super quiet. I was up early to see my husband off - he is headed down to Georgia this morning. Safe driving hon! But back to my couch - what a pleasant way to start the year, the chance to just sit in the calm of the morning - all animals making little grunting happy sounds - Harrison on his bed, the cat curled up, and of course little Tinkerbell up against me. It's unseasonably warm outside - seems like unseasonable weather is here to stay.  Last night, we went out for a good long walk with our friends, mainly to work off that big dinner, but it was so pleasant to walk in the town that was all lit up with Christmas lights - crossing the little footbridge across the river. Farnham is really quite lovely!

We had the best intentions. Champagne in the fridge ready to pop at the strike of midnight, countdown to 2011 on the TV, but the guys fell asleep and  New Years kind of rolled over in this household without any fanfare.  But that doesn't really matter does it?  We have all day to celebrate and ring in the New Year. And we are so lucky!  Our house is warm, comfortable and inviting, the fridge is bursting with food, our friends happy to be here with us and us happy to be here with them. No floods, fire, storm or any horrible thing happening here on this day.Today, I will drop in at my brother's home and wish everyone gathered there a Happy New Year.  Oops! I hear stirrings - the guests are up - I must tend to them - I'll continue my blog later....

In the meantime, Happy New Year!
