The cat's out of the bag....

Harrison & Nero
Yes, we have a cat. We've had a cat now for 6 months. But this little guy is not my cat - he belongs to David - however, since David lives with us and his cat has the full run of the house, I guess I can safely say that we have a cat.

Let me introduce you to Nero, a handsome cat given to us as a small kitten back in June. Nero was living at the cottage, and  he was the last of his litter to be given away. My heart was set on a Maine Coone, I tried to resist his obvious charms, but this little guy purred his way into our home and into my heart.  Even Harrison fell under his spell - OK, well maybe not immediately, but a friendship has developped and both animals are happy together.  Nero seems to be modeling himself on Harrison - he is definitely developping some doggie traits - like begging at the table.  Funny thing is that as Nero matured, his tail became long and very bushy, he grew tufts on his ears, and he became a very big cat. In fact - he really looks like he might have some Maine Coon in him.,  He is totally fascinated by water and will lean over the toilet bowl to watch the water swirl as long as it's moving.  He plays with his water bowl often spilling the content. And Nero just loves bags - any kind of bag. Leave a shopping bag on the floor and he will climb in.  Life is never boring with Nero around!

Can we lick the bowl?

For now, I've put my search for the Maine Coon aside - one cat per household is fine with me. When David moves on to his own digs, he will bring his cat with him, and then I will start looking for my Maine Coon cat.  Meanwhile, we are all enjoying Nero's company. I am sure that he has adopted all of us and he is now in the process of properly training us to obey all his whims.  Smart cat!
