The Secret Daughter, by Shilpi Somaya Gowda, is a story about 2 families, one in India, and one in California, and the daughter that changes their lives. It's about motherhood, love, loss, and identity. It is one absolutely lovely book. I recommend it to anyone, however, there are serious side effects experienced while reading certain passages of the book. Readers (especially mothers) will find their eyes watering, and their nose will run. A box of kleenex nearby is a must. If you have an important appointment, please be aware that you may suffer from puffy eyelids for a few hours following reading said book. But don't worry, symptoms will soon disapear, but the story will remain in your heart and soul for a long time.

A book review
Oh, my intentions were so good last night! I actually arrived at the appartment before 7pm, something which hadn't happened in a long time, and decided to treat myself with a few chapters from the new book I had just purchased the week before at Costco. I had some work to do, so I told myself, just 1 hour of reading - shouldn't be hard, this is not a thriller, nor a sci-fi novel, just a book about real life - I can put that down after an hour, can't I? Not! I ended up reading the entire book and yes, I know, I went to bed very very late. Was it worth the effort in getting up this morning? Yes! I'd definitely do it again.
