I came across this article in a business magazine today. It had to do with human resources and hardships for employees facing layoffs - the article was good, but what stuck in my head was the line"You can take the Bitter bus to Pityville, it may even be good for you, but you can't stay there".
So I decided to take this wise advise and to take my own little tour on the Bitter bus to Pityville - just for a few minutes - to get it out of my system. Then I can turn around to the Bright side of the road.
My particular beef is November. The month of November. Ask anyone living in Quebec (or Canada for that matter) what their favorite month is, and you can bet your bottom dollar that the month of November is not on the list. November is when you realise that the green house effect is not in effect this year and that you're about to spend the next 5 months freezing in the dark. November is cold, wet, icy, windy, bare, gloomy and dark, and cold. November is when you start paying great attention to the weather reports on the radio because you haven't had time to put your winter tires on your car yet, and heaven forbid should there be an early snow storm. November is when you are all set for a nice early morning run, but wake up to hard freezing rain and head for a hot shower instead. There are no holidays or long weekends off during the month to ease the drudge that is November. November just sucks.
OK - back on the bus- I'm getting out of Pityville. Ah - there's the Bright side! November is almost over! By this time next week we'll be in December. I love December!
my pityville moment is brought to you by our two cars needing new winter tires and rims all around - however as i think of poor us having chosen this course of action of our own free will, and that we are lucky to have this problem, i consider myself fortunate to be able to do this. Knowing that we will be safer when driving the roads over the next 5 months makes me warm all over. Ok, that is an exaggeration...
