For me, anyways, if not for anyone else in the family. I'll explain...
Last week, my trusty old Maytag washing machine sprung a leak. That's never a good thing, especially is the washer is not in the basement. Keith dutifully took the thing apart looking for the origin of the leak, and we then discovered that it would cost us between $250 and $300 to fix. That's a lot of money to put on an 11 year old machine that originally cost about $350.00. But, money is tight, and we hummed and hawed over what to do. Finally, we decided that we might as well spring for a new, energy efficient model, and simply send the defunct Maytag to the recyclers. This morning, my new appliances arrived ( we bought the set since the in store special applied to both only). They are beautiful, shiny, front loaders, and I just can't wait to do a load of laundry (not withstanding the fact that the pile dirty laundry is about as high as it has ever been at this point). Too bad I had to run off to work before they got hooked up, but I expect them to be fully functional (thanks to the handyness of David & Patrick) by the time I get home tonight. There will be clean towels in the Gillett home tonight!
I get excited about new material stuff, too. Problem is, I have to keep my purchases small (no washer and dryer for me!) because of the compact size of my living quarters. A friend desperately wants to sell me this oversized rocking chair (solid wood, plain white) and I simply have no room. Hey - want a great chair for your porch? It would be so perfect for your house...
