I've sort of got to rush this blog since I am sitting up in bed watching the election results while catching up on e-mails and such and just realized that my battery is low and I have just a few minutes left before the laptop decides to shut itself down.

Quick! What's new? I have a new running partner! My young, tall and skinny neighbour asked me if I would consider on running in the evenings with her. I decided to give it a try since it is getting harder and harder to wake up at 5 am and go running alone in the dark. We went on our first run last night, and that's when it hit me - that reality check moment - I am not as young as I used to be. This young lady (actually, she is my hairdresser living next door) runs at a leisure pace (for her) while my short little legs do double time to keep up. I felt like I was running flat out for a full 40 minutes - which in fact is exactly what I did. I got home and totally crashed -exhausted. She didn't seem phased at all - ah! to be in my twenties again!

Anyway - redid the run with her again tonight - still running to her pace, but getting better. The bonus is that I sleep like a rock after a run, and I don't have to rush in the morning since I showered and washed my hair before going to bed. So for now - no more early morning runs - but early evening runs.

I did vote - and the results as I am viewing them are pretty predictable (yawn...)

Battery is dying - gotta go!

  1. I salute your dedication to running (which I prefer on a treadmill in a lighted, heated gym rather than on harsh pavement in dark, cold weather).
