Pets - we love them, they become part of our family, and we take care of them like our children. This week, I heard about my brother-in-law loosing his 16 year old cat.It doesn't matter how old your pet is, it still hurts to loose a part of your household. My heart goes out to them.
My guy is really tuned in to our dogs. Last Thursday, as I was getting ready for our big annual Salon du Scrapbooking and no time for anything else, Keith noticed that Lady looked under the weather and asked me to make an appointment at the vet for her.
Now - of all stupid times to be under the weather for a dog!!! Here I was, going out of my mind with so many things to do - this trade show is the biggest event of the year for us and required 100% of my time and Keith's time (he volunteered after all....) Well, I made the appointment with our brand new vet in Farnham, and Keith managed to get away from our kiosk in time to take Lady to the vet. To be honest with you, I couldn't really see anything wrong with Lady, and she doesn't say much. She looked a little sad, but hey - I had been ignoring her for a couple of days....
Turns out Keith was right. Even the vet was surprised at how astute he is. Lady had a urinary track infection that was caught just in time. I laughed so hard when Keith described how he had to get the urine sample from Lady. Imagine little Lady squatting down for her pee and Keith trying to collect it using a plastic cup attached to a stick. Wish this could have been taped - would have been funny on utube! Somehow he did, and the vet was able to make the proper diagnosis and prescribe antibiotics.
So - lesson here, no matter how busy you are, take time to notice those you love around you. Now that Lady is back to her weird lovable self , it's my turn now to take Harrison to the new vet for his yearly shots. Lucky him!
glad that Lady is fine....animals tell us in their own way when something is not right.
