Relay for Life

Today I found out that the employees from work had set up a team to run the Relay for Life on June 9th in Valleyfield. I was sort of kept out of the loop because everyone knows that I go home to Farnham on weekends and therefore not available. But wait, this is a team of my co-workers raising funds for cancer research. Élevages Périgord lost 2 employees this year to cancer. I didn’t know them, they were on sick leave when I started working and never came back. That is why the employees decided to form a team. So after 2 minutes of soul searching, I gladly accepted the invitation to join them – I will run for those that I do know and love that have been affected by cancer and for those that I have a lost to cancer. I don’t know if I will be able to raise enough funds with only 10 days before the run – but I can try.

The Relay for Life is a different kind of run – first, it’s during the night, it’s a relay – so you only run or walk for a portion of the trek, and the path is illuminated by candle lanterns that people purchase for 5$ each in the honour/memory of loved ones. I couldn’t help myself – I bought 6. But I could have bought so many more. So I will be there for you who know me and have lost someone to cancer, and for those of you who are fighting for your lives – keep fighting!

  1. Good for you. I saw you asked for funds, I can't offer much but I sent $10.00. Like we used to say : "Every little bit helps said the lady as she peed in the ocean!"
