I got an e-mail from my sister today telling me that Bella was old news! That's when I realised how long it had been since I had posted on my blog! It seems that the longer I waited, the harder it was to organise my thoughts into something coherent enough or interesting for anyone to read.
But hey - Bella may be old news, but she is such a joy! She is recuperating from surgery for her eye - she had what is called a 'cherry eye', which is a herniated lacrimal gland - it looked like a big stye on her left eye, but was in fact her gland jutting out, hidding half her eye. The surgery was successfull and now I don't have to limit my photos of Bella to side views so her bad eye doesn't show. At the same time, we had her 'fixed' - no more puppies for Bella! So, for the next few weeks, no running for Bella (but I'm still running!) and instead plenty of nice long walks. I am still as busy as ever, but I have to take time to walk Bella, which is good for both of us! Bella is a good sport - she had to wear one of those awful plastic collars for 12 days! She took it all in stride, never complaining, but it was obvious how overjoyed she was when it came off. I was happy too - she kept bumping into things with the collar and I felt constantly bad for her - how do you explain to a dog that this is all for her own good - so she won't scratch her eye or pull out the stiches on her abdomen? She started coming to work with me too! Not every day, but once in a while when there are no meetings scheduled. I brought her to work the day after her surgery, and she was so quiet that I was then able to bring her with me that whole week. Now that I have set a precedent and that it has been established that Bella is extremely well behaved and not a bother - well, let's just say she'll be ready to be put on the payroll before long!
That's all I'll write for now - after 3 months, there is too much to say in one post - I'll have to come back and continue another day.
Thanks for the update... I had no clue Bella had been operated, I am glad to know all is well for her now. How else will we know what is going on in your life if you don't write anything? So come and visit us via this blog and please don't stop writing! I'll be back...
