Modern Times
This past weekend, my husband and I finally hooked up after 3 weeks of missing each other in the respective coming and goings that our work demands. As we settled down at the kitchen table on Saturday afternoon for some quality tête-à-tête, we both opened our laptops and started sharing what new web sites, new apps for our phones, new tunes from itunes we had discovered. Meanwhile, the two tenant sons were busy upstairs playing some Diablo computer game on 2 laptops and one desktop computer. According to them - the game is better played with 3 computers. So at one point, while I sat back listening to one of Keith's newly discovered artist (Coeur de Pirate) I looked at the table with both laptops side by side, the iPhones attached, and heard the guys exclaiming upstairs while playing and I thought, wow - I wouldn`t have imagined that scenario 20 years ago. Back then, one computer per household was a luxury. Now we have 6 ( there is a neglected iMac in the upstairs office - unlike all the other computers, the older iMac is tethered by a blue cable, poor thing...) When did we get so computerised? Then it occured to me that we are not the exception here - most modern families have multiple computers - sort of like having a TV in every room (funny, cause we never did have that many TVs). Wonder what things will look like in 20 years from now?
