The last thing I wanted to write about is the warm blanket covering my legs and the two sweaters that I am wearing while resting on the couch of my little apartment recovering from the flu. Yes, we are in the midst of an Arctic cold wave, but the cold that I am feeling is of the viral kind. I had the same thing last year, but I foolishly thought that since I had been sick through most of November and half of December, that I couldn't possibly catch anything now.  Wrong!

It started with a sore throat, which morphed into a regular cold, complete with multi Kleenex action all of which was kept under control by regular doses of Tylenol cold medicine. But yesterday, the Tylenol started losing ground. My skin started to hurt, like a sunburn, then my muscles started to ache, then my head, ears...you get the picture. By this afternoon, I started getting chills and left work early.  Dang! January really gets to me!

But it's not all bad!  I had a wonderful Christmas and New Years.  No extra time off for me this year, but still good.  Why, just 2 days ago I was out skating. Sure, pockets full of Kleenex to stem the flow from my runny nose, but still perfectly enjoyable. So I will take this latest viral attack as a minor setback. Things could be worse, and they are not. What's a few aches and pain when you know that everything will be right again in a few days.. Well let's hope they are...I have a busy year ahead of me in 2014!
