Friday morning, I woke up early to the radio announcer asking listeners to call in and describe a favorite moment with their dad in five words or less. What came to my mind immediately was - Qui veut voir les lions? (Who wants to go see the lions?) These little five words evoke such great and very old memories of my childhood. To give my mother a well deserved break from being at home caring for nine kids, my dad would take us out on Sunday afternoons when the weather was right. He would always start with 'Qui veut voir les lions?' Of course we all did, but I do recall the older ones groaning from the repetitiousness of the joke, because, of course, Sherbrooke has no lions. No live ones anyways, but there, on Belvedere Street was a couple of stone lions adorning the entrance of an extravagant home. My dad would drive slowly in front of the stone lions and we would all laugh with glee. Then we'd go to the petting zoo (no lions there) or the park and spend a couple of hours there. I must have been four of five years old at the time, but to this day, whenever I see stone lions, I smile and think of my Dad.
