Running out of time...

Well, it's time I crawled out of the woodwork and surfaced a while.  Almost a whole month since my last blog - what was I up to?  Winter has a way of doing that to some people - they go into hibernation - at least I did.  I was busy at work (nothing new there), and when I made it to my little appartment (often late) I simply wrapped myself up in a blanket and curled up on the sofa with a good book. I just finished my 3rd book this month and I have to admit that this is one guilty pleasure that has made the winter so far bearable. While my husband crisscrosses the continent (he just took the BC Ferry to Vancouver island this afternoon), I work, read, and run. That pretty much sums up the last 2 months.  But... as sure as the Oscars will run into overtime on Sunday, spring will eventually arrive and I have great plans for spring. Spring training!  And what does one workacholic bookworm need to train for? I have given myself a new challenge - and this challenge will require a lot of training - it's the Montreal marathon in September. Forty-two point one six five  42.165 kilometers to be exact. Thats quite a stretch from my regular 8 kilometers - so ya, this will require training. But I am confident that I can do this, and by putting it in writing and letting all of you know, I am sealing my fate and making my commitment real.  You see, I have been considering a marathon for years, but always gave myself all kinds of excuses, the main one being I am too old.  And I sure am not getting any younger - might as well do it this year before I get there.

So I`ll be blogging about my progress and how running this much is affecting this middle age body - but training will only start in April - so for now I am still in hibernation - now where's that book...

  1. women - you never cease to amaze me! My boss ran a marathon and despite much training from a seasoned pro, he said it was the toughest thing he ever did. of all the people i know, i believe you will be able to pull it off. Good luck!
