Waiting is always worse than knowing - no matter how bad it is, the unknown is always more stressful, because you imagine the worse. That's where I have been for the last week - waiting for the other shoe to drop..
Waiting for the Restructure/Proposal of the Scrapbookerie is a nerve wracking experience that I would not ever want to live through again. The trustees have a budget that I prepared for them, letting them know how and how much we can repay all our creditors and they then prepare a proposal that is sent to all of creditors, offering them a percent on the dollar based on our ability to pay. This proposal must be accepted by more than 50 percent of the creditors,or the whole deal is off. What happens if the deal is off? Nothing pretty, I can assure you. The proposal goes out this week. They will have 30 days to reply - that's a long wait.
The Candiac landlord gave us a run for our money - he went totally balistic the day he found out about our re-structuring proposal and had the locks changed within 48 hours, installed an alarm system and has refused us entry to retreive our furniture & inventory. What he has done is absolutely illegal according to our Trustees, he has absolutely no claim over our inventory or our furniture. Finally, after much wrangling back & forth between us, our Trustee and the landlord's lawyer we get to retrieve our possessions tomorrow. Whew! Now that was a tense wait! I guess that is why we hired the trustees - this was no easy agreement to settle.
Still, despite all these uncertainties, one thing is for sure - business is business, and it ain't over till the fat lady sings! I honestly believe that our business will survive this downfall, and will probably be stronger for it. Of course, that won't happen overnight - we'll have to wait....
Business is business and experience is experience, and what an experience this has been for you.
